Each spring, The Aga Khan Foundation awards a handful of doctoral fellowships to international students from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, and Mozambique pursuing postgraduate studies in U.S. or Canadian institutions. The Aga Khan Foundations international scholarships offer scholarships to students from selected developing countries who lack other sources of financial assistance to pursue their post-graduate studies. To develop effective scholars and leaders, and prepare them for jobs, mostly in AKDN, Aga Khan Foundation awards a limited number of scholarships for graduate studies annually to exceptional students from selected developing countries who have no other means to finance their studies.

 

This Asian Fellowship was initiated in order to promote excellence in postgraduate studies, providing financial support for talented students who are enrolled in a suitable PhD programme in the University. The Foreign Student Fulbright Program awards more than 4,000 scholarships annually to doctoral students, young professionals, and artists from more than 160 countries. East Tennessee State University (ETSU) offers an International Student Scholars Scholarship to newly admitted international students seeking graduate or undergraduate degrees.

 

The University of the West offers scholarships for new international students who have achieved high academic standards and demonstrated financial need, such as the Presidents and Deans scholarships. The American University Emerging Global Leaders Fellowship provides a fellowship for an international student whose studies in the U.S. would require a visa. American University (AU) awards a limited number of generous, partial-merit scholarships to incoming, academically-qualified, first-year undergraduate international students.

 

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Trust, offered since 1981 by the World Bank Family Network (WBFN), now offers 24 annual PhD scholarships for foreign students from developing countries to study in the U.S., Canada, or South Africa. The joint Japan/World Bank graduate fellowships program provides full financial support, including stipend, monthly stipend, air ticket, medical coverage, and a trip allowance, for students from developing countries who have provided support to the development of their country of origin and who are applying for an M.S. program related to development.
