What To Do In New York City
With one of the popular Hop On Hop Off Big Bus tours, you get the opportunity to see a lot of the best buildings, landmarks, and places New York has to offer. Ask any New Yorker their favorite park in New York and the truthful ones will admit it is Central Park, so that is why this activity is high on the list of best things to do in NYC. There are so many iconic spots to check out at the park, that I recommend spending a whole afternoon exploring this amazing park in New York City, or visiting multiple times.
Central Park is free to visit and is a nice relaxing spot to relax in after walking through busy urban streets. The Statue of Liberty is NYCs best-known landmark, and in addition to learning its history, offers incredible views over the city. The Staten Island Ferry is an excellent way to get closer to the Statue of Liberty without a pricey ticket, making it one of the best free things to do in New York.
You can simply ride the Staten Island Ferry to see it, or, if you have some time, stay for an hour or so at Liberty Island. Our suggestion is to stick with Manhattan if it is your first time in New York City, and save things like taking the Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn, and some museums for another visit. You will take the boat ride out of Battery Park, getting the opportunity to see some of NYCs other landmarks as you make your way up to Ellis Island.
If you do not want to visit Ellis Island proper, or Liberty, you are going to want to do the boat ride and get to see NYC from the water. On this New York harbor cruise, take in views of the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center, and Empire State Building while enjoying brunch, lunch, or dinner.
For one of the fun things to do in New York City, go to the popular New York Aquarium in Coney Island and face off against sea lions, sharks, and even a giant octopus. Come face to face with dinosaurs at the American Museum of Natural History -- one of the fun things to do in NYC.
